Punk destroyed the Rock in the promos. Punk already established he is a top 10 all time promo guy and Rock made the mistake of assuming he could just raise his eyebrow, make a corny joke and do long pauses with his eyes closed and get away with it.

Hopefully those beneath him can reach that level of acceptance so they have iconic sayings for the rest of their career that spawns video games and shows.

Rock's a megatalent and a smart dude who these days appeals to much more of a mainstream audience than he used to. It's obviously made him richer, more famous and more influential in entertainment than he ever would have been as strictly a wrestler, but the price he pays is that hardcore wrestling fans aren't going to like him as much.

It ain't a newsflash that he won't lose any sleep over that, and good for him.

But not many hardcore/serious wrestling fans will rank his mic skills above Punk's in this day and age. He doesn't seem like a wrestler anymore, he seems like a really athletic, talented entertainer who occasionally visits the wrestling show and draws huge numbers of people to the show who aren't real wrestling fans.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I liked Punk's performance better that night. But these dudes are working together, not against each other. There's a script. They feed each other lines, give each other moments. People seem to mark out and forget that sometimes.
