Looking back Taker vs Diesel was one of the best feuds in 96

I've always said Diesel's post title loss tweener/heel run is the first glimpses of the direction Vince would take with the attitude era.

Diesel's character would have fit perfectly in that era.

He was dope as fukk in that last run. I remember him calling out Vince which was the first clue I had that Vince was more than just a commentator.

And as you said the Taker feud felt epic. It was a true dream match at the time in a way the WWE can't do any more as everyone wrestles everyone on TV.

And in the match no one had dominated Taker like that without interference or cheating. Was a great big man match.
Vince even told Diesel to yell "MOTHERfukkER!" after Bret beat him and told Kevin Dunn and the cameraman to make sure they got a close-up of him saying it.

That promo Nash cut before the match was chill as fukk too. I was legit watching with my brother like "Why is this dude the heel? He's cool as fukk. :pachaha:"

That relatable heel shyt was ahead of its time. :wow:

*Vader vs HBK

But yeah you cant act like 96 wasn't hot. That whole Shawn/Bret/Undertaker/Diesel feud over the WWE title from the end of 1995 through to WrestleMania 12 made for some good ass TV. Then you had the nation of domination and Brian Pilllman's appearances. Taker vs mankind. Austin 3:16. Goldust. 96 was a GOAT year

Everyone says this or the Bret thing is what made people realize Vince was the boss and yet there are multiple segments all throughout 1993-1996 that explicitly label Vince as the boss in PR segments (and also all the time on Tuesday Night Titans and other 80s stuff) and yet somehow an entire generation of fans missed all of that. It's baffling, actually. McMahon hit a whole generation with the neuralyzer :mindblown:

He was always a good talker. Nash had big time personality inside and outside the ring, not many guys who have "cool" in their name could actually back it up like he did. Thats why I bought into every side slam and back elbow. His work with taker, bret and sid, top notch imo.

what does that even mean, you telling me you enjoy all this over saturated, bright light, LED screen bullshyt :scust:
WWE lookin like the Price is Right

:mjlol: :russ: :dead:

Give me that grimy raw look from 96-00 where you can actually heighten the PPVs over the current (pre-Covid) painfully overproduced yet very saturated look of modern era shows. They don’t even change the setup from weekly shows to the PPVs, they just slap ‘Battleground’ or ‘Breaking Point’ over the Raw setup :mjlol:

That's what I miss about WWE. When I was a kid, watching RAW or SmackDown felt like :damn: because of the presentation. By that time, the HD era had already started, but there was still some leftover grit from the previous era.

When it was time for a pay-per-view, it felt like you were watching a completely different show. They had a different energy from the weekly shows because of the effort put into the presentation. Nowadays, they only put that effort into WrestleMania, and they have no choice to since they're in a football stadium with 70,000 people.

If WrestleMania was in an arena, it would feel like another episode of RAW. :shaq2:

Let's Make A Deal literally has their own Thunderdome set up. A couple of day time talk shows have the same set up for an audience.
