Looking back at it why did we like Pimp My Ride?

There were a couple of episodes where they deemed the car "Un-Pimp-able" and gavethema brand new ride...I wonder if those ppl were allowed to keep the car afterwards

it was entertaining i was also like ten years old when the show was on so i didnt have very discerning taste

There was no social media, rappers were worshipped and perceived as always angry gangsters that would murk you for even blinking...then Xzibit came on that show, he was friendly, jokes and always laughing

Add to that pimped out cars were affordable to "millionaire" rappers then to see Xzibit (not MTV ) reward good people by pimping their cars was

It was simple entertainment with the ridicilous add-ons to the cars.
They had a one-off German show called 'Pimpt mein Farrad' aka Pimp my Bike too

Yep I remember hearing mtv cribs was fake too. Celebrities would rent out homes for the show.

My main complaint with the seires, is that they mostly just made the cars look nice, but did nothing for the reliability or performance. The weren't doing restorations.
At the end of the day the client is still leaving with a old civic thats gonna break down every week.
