How bad would the backlash have been if they had the fighter jets up in time and actually shot down the hijacked planes?

there are always these types of threats and attacks happening every day. they let some go through because what is to be gained out of them. don't be surprised if some threat appears all over tv the next few days. it's all a plan. all lies all fabricated. there's always a master plan of why something is on tv...

if you think anything stupid they know about it.

it definitely would have been a day that would be remembered as a significant terrorist attack. But it wouldn't have had the same impact because the planes would have most likely fell into the water and we wouldn't have images of the smoking towers and people falling from the towers. The question would be is if the government would have let the public know that we shot down the planes instead of a narrative that it was terrorists who simply nose dived them in the ocean as a suicide mission.

Things would have been jittery for the next few years because it was new york new jersey planes that "crashed" and were hi jacked but i'm not sure the world stops the same way where they postpone the baseball season for instance and there is nothing on tv for a week except for news coverage.

It was a real surreal time during those first 2 weeks.

Agreed, there would have been much less causalities... but I was referring to the politics after the fact, the Patriot Act, etc.

I don't think its possible to talk about 9/11 without considering the controversy about the buildings falling in the first place.

I think the issue is, if the planes were shot down....people wouldn't buy that all those lives that died in the buildings that day would have been saved because they wouldn't even believe a plane would be flown into those structures. I think the backlash would be pretty big because they would only think of the lives that were sacrificed and would say there should have been a better method.

Is that the full extent of your argument or do you have more pieces to this puzzle?

I believe the full equation is: fire + jet fuel = weakened steel = collapse

What more would you like to argue about? My dude - I have data, statistics, polls, and expert opinions at my fingertips. Do you?

I always wondered what would've happened if the towers were hit but they didn't collapse. We'd have the images of the towers with gaping holes and smoke, but I wondered if the feelings would've been the same if they hadn't fallen.

And would the towers be habitable anyways? After all the damage that fire from the planes would've done, you're looking at likely a billion dollars to repair the buildings.
