Why do all these directors come to him? .... why does he deserve this... generosity?Let's be reality. As great of an actor that Leo is, he's been largely carried by the directors, cinematographers, or script.

Altho Depp hasn't been in a classic movie in a decade, he still gives great memorable performances.
Leo's been in a lot of classic movies but as as an actor, I think he's just aight.

Early in his career yeah I would say he was only above average. But the last 5 years or so he has really leveled up to elite status IMO. And come on, Depp not only has he been in lot of crap lately he also has been mailing it in as well. Leo has never done that. He gives all his parts 100%, and now his skill has caught up to his effort.

Leo has been in a lot of great and classic movies in the last several years, I can't deny that.
But as an actor, he doesn't wow me like that.
I think he's been fortunate to be in a lot of great movies and he does a really good job, but as an actor he doesn't really wow me like Denzel, Brando, Newman etc
The 1 movie of his that I did really like and I consider a classic is The Departed.
Leo has definitely been a harder worker than Depp in the last several years, I agree
Depp has been mailing it in and been coasting for a very long time and been more considered with a check than picking great movies to star in.
And I can't deny that Leo gives it his all in whatever he's in and he's definitely put in his fair share of really good work.
I just don't always get the hype with his acting, no matter how great the movie is.

I can dig that. Like I said previously no he is not on Denzel, Paul Newman, Daniel Day Lewis' level. But amongst his peers and people younger he's that dude right now. Everyone who is better than him is also 10+ years older than him to.
