I'm browsing TigetDirect and Newegg .. help a brotha out. I want it to be able to multi task and not lag. i.e. do my work, and dload music/movies .. I'd like to be able to have multiple programs open at one time and not have any performance slippages. I dont do crazy shyt like music production and stuff like that .. when I say I do work it mainly deals with Excel, Word, ect. I'd like to have decent storage space also since I'd like to be able to keep this computer for at least 5 years without having any problems.

Max looking to spend $650-$700. Obviously .. the lower the price the better. I'm still not ballin like most of you Coli cats. :leostare:

Thoughts on these? See anything better?

If your not playing games or doing some type of media editing, those two you posted have more than enough power. You could even go a lil cheaper with something like this
Newegg.Com - Refurbished: ASUS K55A-BBL4 Notebook Intel Core i5 3210M(2.50GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW Intel HD Graphics 4000
Or this
Newegg.Com - Refurbished: ASUS K55 Series K55N-BA8094C Notebook AMD A-Series A8-4500M(1.90GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 7640G

For laptops Toshiba and Asus are rated highest for quality and reliability so stick with one of those brands.

personally i would never go the refurbished route...from past experiences
but i have that asus you posted...zero complaints. i got it for $450 around black friday from bestbuy.
the i5 is a good look.
if you have an older laptop i suggest taking the ram out of it and putting it in the asus k55.
i'm currently at 8gigs of ram.

I've never had a problem with refurbished stuff. You save a bunch of money and depending on where you buy it from you still get the same manufactures warranty as a new item.

true....
my bad experience was with hp (yeah, yeah i know...) i've learned from my mistake.

HP is always rated bad. But I swear I got a hp/compaq desktop that's still going strong after 10 years. I haven't upgraded it or fixed it once. I just use it to download torrents and check for virus's before moving them to my new PC. It's gone through countless virus's and restores and it's still works like new.
