I don't know what it's like in your cities but fukk paying $60 just to get into a club though, cover charges when nothings going on or noones performing are the biggest hustle around.

Exactly I've completely written off going to clubs unless Im in VIP. And therefore other than my 21st bday in December I haven't been to a club since like 2012.
