I don't think PS4 needs to drop the price just yet because they are still selling like crazy. The only thing Sony has to do is RELEASE THE GAMES! And since the company took a 1.5 billion dollar hit..now more than ever they need to drop bombs on Microsoft. Clean them the fukk up and leave them to battle it out with Nintendo.
he's not just talking the kinect 2.0 with the xbox one. he's talking the kinect period. starting with the 360. it made MS a ton of cash. thats a fact.
they got rid of it because CASUAL gamers basically cant afford and will refuse to pay $500. the people have spoken with their wallets. basically nuccas is broke now a days. meaning most casual gamers aint got it like they use to. where no matter what came out no matter the price point they were buying all of it. not any more. so the first thing to go is the accessory that isnt necessary in order to play games.
for me the kinect is necessary. cause i dont just play games with my box. i watch moves, mess around with other apps, etc. so when i say xbox on. my xbox will turn on. if i say volume up or down. thats what it will do. you can stay in the past if you want to. I'm in the future. but i'm a small % of people who get it. and are willing to pay that price for it.
when the kinect was its on separate thing at $100 a ton of people bought it. but right now. people just cant stomach $500 good ones. they just cant do it. especially with its brother system sitting over then for $100 less. basically doing the exact same thing. playing most of the same games. and sorry no casual gamers are not worrying about 720 vs 900. you can barely tell if you're a casual gamer.
unless someone is talking 4k, be quiet. or SD vs HD.
So thats all that is. its the price. and for the die hard gamers like yall. its the fact that yall just wouldnt let go of the idea that the kinect was a pure gimmic.
again. i just lost 17 lbs messing around with the kinect. i did it in 8 weeks. one this little challenge at work and got paid for it. i basically got double what the kinect cost me by winning. now how did i do that? kinect fitness app. me paying an extra $100 for that, is worth it by far. how much would i spend on a gym membership that would only half use after i get sick of driving to the gym? thats just me being real. see i can see the benefit. but some fat hardcore gamer cant. he will say "if i want to lose weight, i'll go out side and work out." yeah right. check the stats on us fat americans. we aint going outside. so stop it. but thats what will be said.

the casuals dont want to pony up $500 all at once.
you sound silly. of course ps4 has everything you need. just like the xbox has the exact same stuff. if you have a ps4. no need to buy a kinectless xbox. that would be foolish on your part. unless we're talking 2 or 3 years down the line and you start to really see the benefit to MS having those dedicated servers for larger online games. but until that happens. there's no difference. ps4 game played is teh same as a xbox game. so if you already have a ps4. DO NOT buy a kinect less xbox. thats a complete waste of $$$. .but that goes both ways. unless you're a super gamer who's buying for exclusives. again dont do it yet cause the exclusives on neither system or must haves just yet.

The company announced that it would be selling the console without the Kinect yesterday, in a submissive but ultimately necessary move that brings it to price parity withSony's smash-hit PS4 at $399. It’s surely a tough move for all those Microsoft execs that repeatedly told us how Kinect was the future of gaming and entertainment. Now, any developers looking to make Kinect-centric games have a very different idea of the Xbox One market, and any developers making normal games have exactly zero incentive to add in Kinect features. Those developers, however, might soon have a little more horsepower to play with. It’s the same Xbox One, after all, and the lack of a Kinect frees up some processing capacity.
“We are in discussions with our game publishers about what we might do in this space and we will have more to talk about soon,” corporate vice president for devices and studios Yusuf Mehdi told Polygon. That’s about as close as we get to a confirmation in this world.

If so, Microsoft could bring the Xbox One closer to competing with the PS4 on multi-platform game performance — those following the console war know that the resolution and framerate of titles like Call of Duty and Tomb Raider have been topics of intense debate since launch. Developers definitely appear to have an easier time optimizing on the PS4′s slightly more powerful hardware, so freeing up that dedicated Kinect power could help Microsoft minimize the “Xbox One is underpowered” headlines. As I’ve said before, I think that those sort of specs aren’t the biggest factors in a mass market sense, but they’re very important to core gamers.
The freed-up processor power serves as something of a metaphor for the important transition this console is making. Before, it was a bold, if highly muddled, statement about how we were going to exist in our living rooms — it received high marks from non-gaming tech publications at launch for this reason. It was also, however, a normal gaming console, and this mixed message drove core gamers to the much more straightforward PS4. Now, however, a Kinect-less Xbox is essentially just a more powerful version of the Xbox 360 with a social bells and whistles. It’s a game console, first and foremost.
