But I don't see this having a major effect past the initial bump yet. You will see the results of this in the holiday and moving into 2015.

Only thing Microsoft has done by announcing this so early is made sure that by the time the majority 360 owners are ready to upgrade, the majority of retailers will have drove the price of the Xbone down significantly. Meaning less profit per console sold.

In other words, at the moment this is only attractive to the hardcore who are looking for a secondary console. People who will spend minimal amounts of money on Microsoft services and will only buy gold to leech of the GOG program.

Microsoft is never going to regain that lost mindshare. The dream of winning the battle for the living room, with families paying for MS services at its core, Is dead. Its time to settle for second place/ Consolation prize.
