The tape is dope. Banks should be in the upper echleon of lyricists like Jadakiss and Fabolous. I think the reason he's overlooked is because he came in the game with 50, who had more charisma and star power than him. He was always known as the lyrical one in G-Unit but I think his bars went over a lot of people's heads.

Banks been better than jada and especially fab for a minute but yeah he never got that recognition.

What's up With the album?

Not arguing but at this point don't most people just consider these tapes basically albums? I mean they have original production and full verses and hooks. Plus his style has changed a lot since HFM2 and especially RA so to me the last few tapes might as well be albums. Especially FNO.

Maybe. I think he releases better solo projects than them though, so in some ways I think he's already there. Hunger For More and Kiss of Death came out on the same day in 2004. I remember that. Banks did the punches on the same level as Jada and Fab, and some might argue better. At this point Jada and Fab basically do the same style. Jada's new tape was fire but it's not really that different from The Champ Is Here (that classic tape he did with Green Lantern).

Banks is the most successful of the 3 to really change his style. Some people don't like it. Some do. But I think the amount of work he's released, compared with the fact that none of the 3 (Jada, Fab, Banks) have ever released a true 5-mic classic means they're all on pretty even ground IMO. I think Fab has the worst discography of the 3 and Banks probably has the best if you include his mixtapes. I'd think it was weird if someone put Fab over Banks but anyone could put Banks over Jada or Jada over Banks and I wouldn't argue.

Not that commercial success matters, but Banks is the most recent rapper from NY to have a platinum debut album.
