Final Fantasy 6: I started with 7, then went back and played this and 4. To me this is the GOAT of the series; excellent storytelling, characters that I cared about and were all unique, outstanding soundtrack, a hateable villain with NO redeeming qualities who actually WINS. It needs to be the next one that Square remakes. Fond memories of this game.
Chrono Trigger: Kinda the same reasons as FFVI, without the grind and spike in difficulty. Square was firing on all cylinders with this one, the combat system is still one of the best, and the game made minor decisions matter in a time where developers didn't have the foresight to program things like that in a game. I'll never forget when the main character dies, the lead up to the Magus fight, and small but significant moments like leaving Robo in medieval times to revive a garden, and using the time machine to instantly warp forward in time, just to realize he's been waiting 1,000 years to see us again...
Uncharted 2: This game solidified Video Games as an art form to me. Top notch acting, Epic set pieces (the train sequence), great story telling. This is a game that I use to get people to at least entertain the thought of playing a video game. It just grabs you and takes you one a hell of a ride.
Resident Evil 4: This is how you reboot a series! I was over RE just like everyone was until this came along. It evolved and revolutionized the behind the back shooter genre, made Leon an action hero, and has some memorable moments. There were several times that I thought this game would end, and it didn't. And I was grateful for that every time until the credits rolled.
Destiny 2: I've legit lost track of the amount of hours i've put into this game. I wasn't too fond of FPS games until this one. It blends elements of FPSes, MMOs, RPGs & platformers. Does it stick the landing on all of them? No, but it does them all well enough to sink it's claws into me and millions of others for over 7 years and counting. And it seems like the storytelling and lore is getting better as time passes. When Destiny dropped, the producers said that your characters would live in an story arc that lasted 10 years and would become legendary. I was rolling my eyes back then, but they're 3 years away from proving a LOT of people wrong.
