It's two sides. You making it seem as if Haymon is begging to do business with them and that's the contrary. For the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, Bob and HBO had to kneel and kiss the ring because Money was going to make money regardless but not as much of course. Haymon bent them. Haymon fighters are more well-known thus Roc Nation tried to poach. Haymon singlehandingly broke Golden Boy thus OLH suing because once Canelo catches his next L, GB is through. He has prospects but high valued fighters are choosing PBC, Top Rank and everybody else gets scraps. RN overpaid for Cotto trying to gain credibility but showing a Ward fight on BET is damning.
Throne Boxing?!
If anybody wants to reconcile it would be Jay-Z. "I'm rolling PBC... cause them nikkas got money" - Stevie J voice on Reasonable Doubt.
Not true. Haymon doesn't want to business with them and they don't want to do business with Haymon. Pretty mutual on both sides.
And Haymon didn't make Bob Arum do anything in Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations. That goes against all reports of how the fight negotiations went down. Bob and Al won't negotiate with each other and had not spoken with each other for years. It was Les Moonves who had the power and played nonpartisan intermediary to get Haymon, Arum, HBO, and Showtime all on the same page.
Sounds like you are jocking Haymon. He is doing his thing, but largely due to his huge financial backing (not his money) that allows him to overpay for fighters. Right now he is losing money to try and get PBC broadcasts to gain traction.
Word is that the publicized numbers for Roc Nation are not real. Of course Roc Nation has admitted that they will have to overpay to try and get their foot in the game. That had been happening lately when things go to purse bid, promoters don't want to work with each other, so they are trying to outbid to gain control. Hence why Stevenson-Kovalev talks are off.
In general boxing marketing is winning right now. PBC is putting on more cards than ever, HBO and Arum have had an excellent year, Jay is still trying to get his feet wet - Cotto vs. Canelo will be good for him. The winners right now are fans as we get more fights than ever, the losers are Showtime who can't get any good cards, and the fact that promoters can't get along so we still have great cross promotional fights not being made.
