They weren't really wrong on don't ask don't tell....
They aren't wrong on gun rights.
They aren't wrong for trying to stop liberal bias at college universities.
They aren't wrong for wanting fewer government agencies.

let's be reality, when the GOP says "less government" it's a code word for "less civil rights oversight and fewer social services". Al Gore actually streamlined government while everyone else has been enlarging it in other areas.

ur right. But the basic concepts.... That stuff is only like 15% of the budget. If they were serious about cutting defense and tax breaks for companies who ship jobs.. then the concept I would agree with.

J Edgar and anticommunism

yeah if you go back they were majorly wrong on the cold war in general not to mention the great depression

Vietnam and the Cold War are kinda tricky cause the Dems advanced both as well (also a lot of the dixiecrats were anti-civil rights)

Yup. I was gonna say they are actually very much right on a high level about work ethic, anti-dependency, focus on local social solutions over big sweeping government solutions etc...

But none of those are genuine GOP ideals. Just a decent sounding cover to maintain religious control over people, old school KKK style power in communities, corporate exploitation and all the other unappealing elements of cac-ness...

Its so demonic, friends

They weren't wrong on all of these things, they just had selective amnnesia, purpseful hypocrisy and went against stuff for the sake of the party. So I guess the response may have been wrong but many of them knew better, and then they got told to shut up.

You can't pin tough on crime and war on drugs strategies just on them either.

sensationalism? the right's beef with the federal government and judicial activism has to do with actual fed/court policies from the 60s onwards, and their beef with the welfare state from the 40s onwards. "Small government" is not actually about small government it's about specific policies. When it comes to spending, a lot of times when they say move X to the states it's just a plan to end X.

Local governance isn't ideological in reality. Hell, Ralph Nader is for "small government".

I don't agree with more gop platform issues.. except gun laws. There are points to be made about liberal bias. I attended large universities. MSU.. and a couple others. Only one wasn't bias. And I'm not conservative.... I'm just saying they aren't completely wrong about that.

Also, some of those other things were supported by Democrats in the senate.
