Most of those are gelatin based...You see the collagen is the 1st main ingredient...better off spending money elsewhere or none at all

Isn't that a type of protein that joins other things together...
You know that old adage about "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"... well, that is the case with these.

There have been several posts this week about people using these, so apparently it is time for the warning again. You are wasting your money and are endangering your health (including your hair) if you are relying on these as a source of protein. If you look at the ingredients you will see that they are made primarily from collagen protein. Not only is this a significantly inferior form of protein to begin with (compared to whey or whey isolate), but -- more importantly -- they do not have the necessary amino acids to enable your body to absorb even the crappy protein that they do have. The PDCAAS scoreis used to rate the bioavailablity of protein (how well your body can absorb it). For whey protein, milk, and eggs the score is a perfect 100. For these shots it is LESS THAN ONE (.08 according to the manufacturer of the Body Fortress brand)! So, if you are thinking that they are "better than nothing", they aren't... they ARE nothing!

Collagen has a wide variety of applications, from food to medical. For instance, it is used in cosmetic surgery and burns surgery. It is widely used in the form of collagen casings for sausages, which are also used in the manufacture of musical strings.

If collagen is sufficiently denatured, e.g. by heating, the three tropocollagen strands separate partially or completely into globular domains, containing a different secondary structure to the normal collagen polyproline II (PPII), e.g. random coils. This process describes the formation of gelatin, which is used in many foods, including flavored gelatin desserts. Besides food, gelatin has been used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and photography industries.[51] From a nutritional point of view, collagen and gelatin are a poor-quality sole source of protein since they do not contain all theessential amino acids in the proportions that the human body requires—they are not 'complete proteins' (as defined by food science, not that they are partially structured). Manufacturers of collagen-based dietary supplements claim that their products can improve skin and fingernail quality as well as joint health. However, mainstream scientific research has not shown strong evidence to support these claims.[citation needed] Individuals with problems in these areas are more likely to be suffering from some other underlying condition (such as normal aging, dry skin, arthritis etc.) rather than just a protein deficiency.

There's old research done where subjects used collagen as their only protein source. There were enormous negative side effects from the absence of EAAs. Some actually died, IIRC :heh:

basically

best bet is real food, whey and/or casein for supplementation

and if convenience is the issue i recommend bars and/or single serving protein shakes(if money isnt an issue)

For the mod that edited my post, I stated in jest that I sent kolo's wife my liquid protein and he took it upon himself to delete my post. Lameness all around, especially in a thread asking if liquid collagen is good source of protein. SMH
