Word. In real life, the dude probably did spend years laying around and searching google earth all day, but it's damn hard to translate that dramatic tension to a visual medium like film and make it compelling and engaging. It would probably work better in prose, so we could be in his head as he is going through this isolation and compulsion. But watching him stare at rocks, stare at his girlfriend, stare at the water on the beach, stare at maps, have a flashback, spout cliches to his girlfriend as they have sex, then stare some more with dramatic music playing just was not very interesting to "watch". It completely lost the energy of the first half of the film.Nah, there was like a 15 minute lull of that dude just laying on his couch or walking around. It just wasn't interesting.
