A five-year-old Indian boy gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family.

Kinda shocked seeing no thread on this film since it has 6 Oscar noms. The film is good but has flaws, mostly pacing and editing wise. The movies shines with its acting. Everybody, except for Rooney Mara, is supreme. Dev Patel should get Oscar for this role, hot damn.

Came in to this forum expecting a thread that was pages since it is an Oscar nominated movie and it is on everyone's Best Movie of the Year type lists and I see this struggle thread. :martin:

Movie was piff. Moonlight #1 in my opinion. Lion #2 only because of the editing.

I know brehs have noticed this in other threads. But kid Saroo and Adult Saroo are like 4 shades different. (:mjpls:)

I thought the kid and Patel did a really good job and he definitely deserved the Oscar nomination.

Nicole Kidman looking like the cac demon that she is.

I refuse to believe that "speech" she gave ol'boy. That has to be some white savior nonsense that probably never happened in real life.

It's aight. Endless shots of him falling asleep to Google Earth was kinda zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, paired with tediously cliche shots of him wandering/remembering wandering as a kid.

The story is incredible, the movie was just ok.

Nah breh, I disagree, it is important to show that he spent alot of time looking

even quiting his job, losing his girlfriend, keeping away from his parents etc. I thought the whole walking in the village was important too and added to the climatic scene where he sees his mother. I think the scenes were important but maybe a bit shorter in length.

just saw this movie and it was definately worthy of best picture nominee. i found it hard to believe that a 4 year old kid could remember all that shyt 25 years later. all the turns and trees of where he used to live

man this movie was good, i have yet to see moonlight but ive seen la la land, hell or high water, and manchester by the sea. out of all those movies manchester by the sea definately doesn't deserve a best picture nomination.

the coli is def sleeping on this movie

That shyt is what really brought down the movie for me as well. It goes on way too long and barely even communicates how desperate/obsessed he has become with finding his home.

I liked it a LOT more before Dev Patel showed up and it turned into an English language film. I had to :lolbron: at him wanting to go into Hotel Management after all those Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movies.

Breh couldn't speak the native tongue in the reunion scene with his mother? :picard: Learn the damn language Dev :hhh:

3-3.5/5

:dahell:

You are telling me his wall of train maps and pins on the map didn't tell you how desperate he was? :comeon:Plus he quits his job, breaks up with his girl etc. That in it self should show you he was very obsessed

I think you are hating this movie just to hate it breh. :mjpls:

There was some breh here, talking about how could a 5 year old remember all that shyt? Well remember he was lost, so when you are lost you tend to hold on to memories of places. Plus this is child that played outside his whole life, different from the children of nowadays.

Nah, there was like a 15 minute lull of that dude just laying on his couch or walking around. It just wasn't interesting.

Agreed. Movie was dope before we moved on to Dev. The editing got really shytty too, as they "tried" to communicate his obsession.
