Kobe just had his a career high 17 assists the other night with 20 points to boot. Yall STFU:stopitslime:

Most of yall dudes fav player aint dropping 20 and 17 in their PRIME. He just needs to scale back on shots and minutes, that's it and he's been doing so.

I hate when people say the team owes a player something. Doesn't matter what the sport is.

The Lakers have paid Kobe 280 million dollars over his career. They don't owe him a damn thing.
You play, you get paid. That's the deal.

Always has been. Always will be.
Nobody is owed playing time or anything.

He made them BILLIONS, they will ALWAYS owe him.

I disagree.

A franchise isn't indebted to any one player.
The Lakers have existed and thrived long before Kobe Bryant.
And they will exist and thrive long after Kobe is gone and dead.

While Kobe was there, he was compensated extremely well.
He isn't entitled to anything more than what he's got. It's not like he single-handedly raised the Lakers into prominence and power. He wasn't winning titles by passing to himself and defending 5 other guys on the court.

This isn't hating on Kobe. I feel that way about every athlete.

An athlete might elevate the profile of a team for a short time, but he wouldn't even have that opportunity if the team didn't exist/sign him to begin with.
So it's pointless to get into a "whom owes whom" debate.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
I dont see a scenario where he walks away from 25 mil next season

He already can't play back to backs and is gonna get shut down at the break for rest.

What's the point of coming back next year to do the same thing on another rebuilding team that'll most likely be tanking?

it really all depends on the team that he'd be playing with next year

Randle will be back, they'll have a top 5 pick most likely (or else the Suns could get it) and cap space to sign some players

If they can give Kobe a team that could at least fight for a playoff spot then maybe he comes back, but if it's another rebuilding year I don't see why he risks damaging his legacy anymore

Even if he stuck around thru another rebuild next year, it's hard to picture him being a meaningful contributor to a team in 2017 even if the lakers have built a contender by then

Hasn't he said he wants to play in Italy?

"It's important for free agents to see how I can adjust my game, because that's always the question mark, right?'' says Bryant. "Are they going to get the old grumpy guy who is going to want to shoot the ball all the time? No, they're not. It's important for free agents to see that my determination comes from self-assessing, from saying, 'OK, I'll do this.' "

:dead:

I guess he's hoping that none of these free agents watched games or looked at stats this year

If his pride could handle it he could play 30 minutes a night for a contender and extend his career another 3 years if he wanted. But since he still wants to be the lead dog then Kobe may be gone after next season. Maybe after this one with all the hints he has been dropping.

It's over Kobe. It's a new generation in there now who know how to play team ball and that has always been your weakness. I loved watching you play in your younger days, but it's time to do what any respectable middle age man does and be with your family and cheat on your wife with younger versions of her.
