Rap has been unlistenable trash for a very long time, and I don't care how much some of you cats try to defend it. Honest critiques have been billed as "hating". No one is gate keeping the music and culture anymore. And for you intellectually stunted and dishonest persons who will try to muddy the water, no one is saying bad music didn't exist. It always has through all eras. The issue is bad music is now the rule, not the exception and it has been for a long ass while.
The biggest issue with rap is that commercially, there's no balance. Its majority brain dead, gimmicky, cookie-cutter, destructive bullshyt that is being pushed. If you aren't into the more destructive elements of the genre then what are your options? And again, for the intellectually dishonest knuckleheads, before you even muddy the water, the subject matter isn't necessarily the issue. These topics have been a part of the culture for as long as its existence. The issue now is that it's the MAJORITY of what you're offered, and the problem is compounded by the fact that the music is executed far less creatively.
And saying all the good music is underground isn't the flex that some of you think it is.
