It Is Niether Jay nor Nas's responsibility to hold these rappers hands, and in most cases when they did try to put their fellow NY brethren on it was met with ungratefullness. Nas and Jigga's main job as rappers is to RAP at the HIGHEST level possible, them continuing to succeed at this isn't "holding other rappers back" hell, Jay-Z was on Saigon's debut album from last year. I don't see how either of them hold any responsibility at this point towards anyone but themselves and thier legacies.

But that old way is outdated. This is a network-fueled game now where more connections = more exposure to the right people. Kinda like having a beeper in the age of the camera phone: what good is it for?
