But uh... dudes in the hood have been beating up women since forever. All those stories people "heard" from their grandfathers were b/c they learned the consequences of running up on everybody (particularly women) the hard way.

There are plenty of instances of rappers (and just regular cats in the hood) in the 80s and 90s smacking up chicks... and now in 2012 we hollering that it's weak. It's BEEN weak. But that has NOT stopped it from happening. It's just a code that certain dudes live by. Some of the hardest cats in gangs are the same ones who smack chicks who get out of line at the club. Just how it is. These women don't do themselves any favors though when they mess around and get bold with dudes who live like that.

You ain't changing that. Just deal with it if it happens to someone close to you. Or ignore it like everyone else does.
