Iunno bruh, ya don't think Soulja Boi and late 00s Lil Wayne had anything to do with it?
I have no idea what lunno means.
Anyway, I think where we lost control over the Hip Hop narrative in the late 90s, with this Em guy "commercializing rap music" and bringing in a lot these no-Hip Hop heads into the culture. That is where it really started to become messy. I remember people not into Hip Hop calling him the best thing ever, and when I asked them about Rakim they could tell me who Rakim was. Most of the people from that time couldn't mention even 10 groups from the Golden Era, that is when I realized something was going on that would effect the future of Hip Hop. And with KRS and Marley supporting these kids in the early mid-2000, that wasn't a good sight.
So yeah, I do think Soulja Boi and late 00s Lil Wayne had something to do with this. I never liked them anyway.
Soulja Boi literally dressed like Flava Flav, who symbolically portrayed the dysfunctional Black men. The clock he has on represents the sign of the time. Hence him always saying, "you know what time it is …, yeah boyyyyy".
This guy now literally calls himself a boy (which he misspells to show even more of his dysfuction). So we went from guys calling themselves Big Daddy Kane and KRS One (Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone), to lil this and that and boy this and that...
How can anyone take a person looking like this serious? If you can't see that this is mockery of Black men, you have serious mental issues.
