They've been huge in certain cities (DC in particular), but the Bay & ATL are like sister cities in how their cultures parallel each other. Now, you see the ATL's influence on Chicago. When I was watching "I Don't Like" for the first time, if you told me they were in the Bay, I could believe it with ease. I've seen shyt like that years ago.

I won't even go into the fact how Drake came in and took the bay sound to have the biggest hit of his career nor how jerkin,YG & DJ mustard's down in LA is heavily influenced by Bay Music.
