Guess it depends on whether you'r buying the story he always hated rap
I see his rap career as two halves, the kiddie rapper and the guy that wanted to be the legit rapper. He dropped the Lil from his name, started cussing and swagger jacking to get credit as a grown rapper. And he was never taken seriously as an adult or had close to the success of his JD days. And I don't believe at all he didn't want to rap all that time, he wanted to be known as a great rapper
So yeah Lil Bow Wow was a success, but Bow Wow was not

Plenty of people hate what they do and what they are most known for. Lil Bow Wow been on since 5. What kind of a life could he actually have? What 5 year old sticks to one dream profession? He made it as a rapper. All he knew was rapping and acting. Acting is escapism and he can make good money. Regardless of age how many artists have had long lasting careers? LL Cool J is probably the longest, then Nas, Jay-Z & Lil Wayne. You could throw Scarface and Cube in it too, but nobody rocks with them too tough. It's not a lot. Most are here today gone tomorrow.

Not sure when I can recall Nick Cannon being a lame, or a crybaby. I have a lot of respect for dude as a person regardless of whether I ever enjoyed his music. Nick Cannon has gone through a lot and busted his ass for everything he has.
I can't say the same for Bow Wow, I don't see how they are in the same bracket at all.

Not to cape for the lil nikka, but dude has been putting in work in the industry since like age 4. Doing multi night sold out shows at 12, working around the clock touring, press conferences, recording. That's gotta earn some type of ability to speak on anything he feels. I mean you can dispute this, but ask yourself wtf where you doing at age 12? If it wasn't taking care of your family by performing in front of 10's of thousands on a nightly basis, then please dismiss the hate from your blood bruh.

In a way I can see why, he was a child star and a very lucrative one at that, so he was probably pushed/pressured a lot.

Just because he may have continued through adulthood, doesnt mean he neccesarily enjoyed but rather did it for any potential money gains.

Yeah, I call it the Andre Agassi Syndrome: his whole life, his father made him play tennis competitively and he actually hated tennis . So he got good at it just so his Dad would get off his back, or something like that.
