A few rambling thoughts........

You all have been grading these women on a curve for so long you don't even realize Stephanie's marketing that you all used to (and sometimes still do) mock has worked better than imagined. The right combination of social justice, fear of backlash for not being "progressive enough," "hope" start and stop pushes for niche and minority female wrestlers and a rotating set of over-pushed blondes that you invest your emotions into seeing felled have all been thrown in a big manipulative pot, stirred by Steph and cooled until ready to serve and you all have eaten it up. The women are the smoothest they've been in a long time as anything looks better than the Diva era, plus there are more than one or two decent to good workers on the female roster which boosts the overall prestige of the division. It's leaps and bounds better than it perhaps has ever been but they aren't outperforming the men on a regular basis. A female main event can work but it won't be anything but a poorly built and booked (like everything else) feather in the hat of the WWE. Another "female first" to promote and market.

This brings me to another problem with the WWE in general; a lot of fans really aren't invested in the stories, matches and performers for what they are but what they represent on an almost tribal basis. Most people here are Sasha Banks and Naomi fans because they are black. And that's the same reason why many Reddit cacs are not fans of them and prefer Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Mandy Rose or perhaps Becky Lynch or Nattie. There's no reason to be invested in them beyond tribalism and fandom. None of the stories are compelling or thought out. They don't have any character and if they do it is one note and over the top i.e. Alexa Bliss's mean blonde bytch shtick straight out of a 90s cartoon. Same as how people dislike Roman for being an over pushed product of Vince or how people are behind Rusev because his talent has overcome a number of burials. Neither of them are in a compelling storyline or booked competently. They have detractors (Roman) and fans (Rusev) not because of the product but in spite of it. Because the fans have become personally invested in the behind the scenes screw-ups and mishandling of the performers instead of the product itself.

The female WM main event is going to be built around nothing like all main events and ultimately it won't do anything more than be something WWE can tick off it's list for marketing purposes like the first female HIAC, first female MITB and the first female Rumble. May as well have Queen of the Ring too.
But the marketing is working so I think it'll go over well. Vince probably doesn't have his feeble hands on the women's division as much as the rest of the product so I doubt we'll have to worry about Rousey/Flair being turned into Lesnar/Reigns. It's still going to be empty and soulless like most of the product though. Sad shyt.

Ain't read all of that but yeah people aren't invested in re characters or wrestlers anymore...mainly cuz the wwe is too scripted and doesn't allow these guys to be themselves anymore

I'm fine with it :manny:

I'm going to need CHHHarlotte to be heel and Stephen to be the special guest ref because her and Ronda is just pure comedy.

We gotta find out who’s booking the women’s division because honestly it’s the only thing on the shows that feels like actual wrestling booking.

Asuka/Charlotte had a big time feel to it competition wise and delivered.

Nia/Alexa had a actual fued behind it that was easy to follow and made it easy to get behind the face and actually drew you into the match emotionally. :to:

The Mixed Tag had heavy HHH influence obviously and he gets it.

Everything else on that show was boring , thrown together and typical WWE trash outside of the last min shyt with AJ/Nak.

I don't mind women ME'ing at all but damn does damn near everything involving the women's division have to involve Charlotte? If she's not with a strap she's always at the center of whatever the hottest storyline is involving the females.

Someone mentioned it in the WM thread & I agree, people give Roman hell when her push is just as forced imo :hubie:

They had a stupid bully feud that was met with silence at the biggest event of the year:stopitslime:

I'm fine with it. Roman has stunk out the joint 3 years in a row now.
You can make a case that's on his opponents as much as it is on him but still, not interested in another Roman Reigns main event

Ronda Rousey has been garnering rave reviews for her performance at WrestleMania this past Sunday. Dave Meltzer stated in the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that there is already talk in WWE of having Rousey main event next year's WrestleMania. It was also noted that WWE was interviewing women trying to get them to say that Rousey should have been in the main event of last Sunday's show.

A logical opponent for Rousey for next year's WrestleMania would be SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair.

It appears as if WWE had plans to build to a Rousey vs. Asuka match at some point. Meltzer said on the post-WrestleMania episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that when Rousey was signed, Asuka was told to do the armbar all the time. Not only did Asuka lose her undefeated streak to Charlotte this past Sunday, but Asuka was actually "banned" from using the armbar in the match.

I like it, they deserve it, Charlotte vs Asuka was the best match of WM34, could have easily main evented that 1 and been much better than that shower of shyt Brock vs Roman match. Now they got star power like Ronda and great wrestlers like Ember Moon coming up too, often the women are better than the men nowdays.

Charlotte's more entertaining and a better wrestler than Roman.

Coli doesn't like it cause of the corny anti-"wrestling forums that hate Sasha" gimmick but she is every bit as good as advertised. The only time I ever felt she was pushed too strong was going over Asuka at Mania and they had her drop the belt on the next show so that makes sense now. Streak gimmicks are fun but they always have to end at some point and it's always tricky so it's over now, they can move on, Asuka will still hopefully be booked strong going forward.
