I know exactly what he's trying to do: rile up his base while making himself look "good" along the way.
Dude has been trying to cozy up to Xi since he became president. Stupid tweets like the LiAngelo won't do major damage in the long run, but it ain't gonna help and is among the many stupid tweets and actions he's been doing over and over that backfire in some way shape or form.
shyt like this is why (thankfully) a lot of his shyt doesn't get passed or doesn't get done properly. He thinks he can play that "Trump" shyt he's been running all his adult life into the political and foreign policy arena.
