I'd like the 3 guys to get another chance but UCLA would look funny in the light if they keep them on the team. In 2010 three UCLA football players were caught stealing and got suspended for a full season and ended up transferring.

On the other hand, UCLA has spent A LOT of money in recent years on their sports programs. UA gave them the biggest deal in college sports. So I'm thinking UCLA doesn't want to fukk up their recruiting and want to be looked at as a player friendly school. So right now I'll guess they get suspended for 10-20 games

Larry Scott, the PAC-12 commissioner -- the conference that includes UCLA -- quickly issued a statement thanking Trump. "We want to thank the President, the White House and the US State Department for their efforts towards resolution," said Scott.

That "thank you" is apparently not enough for Trump, at least according to his tweet. He wants the actual players -- LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill -- to say "thank you."

That the three players are all young black men should also not be lost here. Trump's history on racial issues -- both as president and as a private citizen -- shows some level of intentionality when it comes to using racially coded language and taking advantage of racial animus and stereotypes for his own political gain.

The image of an older white man in a position of power demanding thanks from three young black men for saving them will set off a lot of alarm bells for people. And, understandably so, given Trump's previous actions in the wake of the white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, and in the ongoing NFL anthem protests.

Even if you take out the racial element, what Trump is asking for is to be thanked (or, more accurately, thanked by the "right" people) for doing his job.

The overall opinion could be negative, but how many stated that he should be charged or banned?

I just posted a clip of ppl in the media that were caping for this dude? Idiot? cool. Ok now what by them being called an idiot will do?. Thought of as a joke you remember it has, but these kids ppl wanna crucify them for something that they didn't do? People can have their opinions about it either way. A single clip with people defending Lochte does not mean that everyone felt that way, just like a single clip of someone wanting the kids suspended doesn't mean everyone feels that way.

Any punishment they receive from the team would be based on moral codes. If they did indeed steal the stuff but the charges were reduced/dropped because of some wink-wink agreement, the team and/or school could still punish them. This is the same thing we are seeing with the Ezekiel Elliott case. The league feels he violated the behavior codes even though the legal system chose not to pursue the case.
