Lex was hilarious to me.
nikka would get hit and would holla like he got shot with a .45:russ:
That was so hilarious to me when he would scream after getting hit. My friends and I used to scream like that when we would play Revenge and hit Luger. :mjlol:

What it REALLY shows...is how OVER the torture rack was. Low key 97 Luger was a top five over Babyface in the world at the time. That finisher was over as shyt...he had some good resume-padding wins in second hours of nitro that made him look credible.

The 97 Luger push is grossly underrated.
Hell, I'd argue Top 3 most over face in '97. Only faces more over were Austin and Sting (yeah I said it, Lex was more over than Undertaker in '97 ). I still think he should've retained the belt at the PPV (Hogan didn't even have to job, just a no contest due to random WCW and nWo run ins) and then drop it on the following one so they can still have Hogan vs. Sting for the title. A not even a week long reign? :beli:

Luger was never over according to the Coli though and this is past his prime lex at this point.
His popularity declined in like 99 because after the injury following Rey losing his mask he didn't do much that was interesting, but prior to that he was certainly over

It's kind of funny to hear Bischoff recounting how the Luger signing happened and how he just kind of blows it off like it was no big deal. But there was a period when Sting was in the rafters where Luger was the hottest active babyface in the company and it wasn't even close.

Almost no bookers like luger. And only a few wrestlers did. Its weird, ive gathered thru shoots and interviews that

  • His arrogance was annoying
  • He was given opportunities most didnt and theres envy
  • He didnt really bow down to his predecessors or wrestlers bigger than him like hulk or flair
  • He knew his worth and was about his paper
    • Which is also why he vibed well with nash and hall
  • He's a gym guy who work rate dudes hate
Him and Sid is like the same thing
