TM101 and Recession both sound fresh..as does Gucci's mix tape catalog dating back to about 07. It all depends on the production.
That ticky tack Lex Luger run is easily the worst of the trap era though.
DJ Toomp is to Shawty Redd and D. Rich as Shawty Redd and D. Rich is to Lex. In essence Shawty Redd and D. Rich didn't start or father anything. Even with DJ Toomp, he's heavily influenced by Beats By The Pound and Pimp C/N.O. Joe. There's also credit to T-Mix and DJ Paul & Juicy.
That being said, Lex Luger is the producer responsible for the nearly omnipresence of trap records post-2010.

Except what Shawty Red was doing in 04 sounds nothing like what Toomp did for TI. Trap or Die's sound was the first of its kind and spawned the explosion of Trap Music as we know it. Of course we can trace the elements of it back to 90s Memphis/N.O. records but Trap or Die/TM101 really jumped it off.
And if you talking bout the post 2010 sound that was first played with on The Recession. Listen to "Amazing" "By the Way' or Who Dat" and tell me I'm wrong.
To you it might not sound like what Shawty Redd was doing in '04. According to Toomp, Shawty Redd told him that he created the sound on Trap or Die based on "Be Easy" from Trap Muzik. The fact that there wouldn't be reference to trap as a sound or sub-genre without T.I./Toomp says it all.
Post 2010, the hi hats and the kick drum patterns that Lex was using in 2010 became common place. After that point, it became repetitive.

By acting like he's some genius architect behind this sound when he's a knockoff fruity loop version of Shawty Red. If he was truly THAT gifted he would still be doing his thing along with Southside..who he came in the game with. Dude was a one trick pony who got lucky for a year and some change.
