That cac John Stossel saying he looks like a drug dealer![]()
I would have to say that drugs don't cause cognitive impairment, but the addiction and need to get high again causes a major change in the mindset of the addict. Heroin is an example where a user gets high, then comes down and their main goal is to get high again. For a gainfully employed person, that means going out working and spending more money to get high again. For really rich people (rock stars, actors, pro athletes, business people, etc.), they can basically ruin their body without going into poverty. For middle-class, when their addiction affects their job, they can lose their job which spirals in poverty. For lower-income people, it's the same thing. The daily motivation to get up is to get high. When they can't get gainfully employed, then they turn to crime.KG: What about the idea that drugs can turn people into criminals?
CH: The pharmalogical effects of drugs rarely lead to crime, but the public conflates these issues regardless. If we were going to look at how pharmalogical drugs influence crime, we should probably look at alcohol. We know sometimes people get unruly when they drink, but the vast majority of people don’t. Certainly, we have given thousands of doses of crack cocaine and methamphetamine to people in our lab, and never had any problems with violence or anything like that. That tells you it’s not the pharmacology of the drug, but some interaction with the environment or environmental conditions, that would probably happen without the drug. Sure, new markets of illegal activity are often or sometimes associated with increased violence, or some other illegal activity, but it is not specific to drugs like people try to make it out to be.
Other than crime, you have myths that drugs cause cognitive impairment, make people unable to be productive members of society, or tear families apart.
tell that nikka to cut them dodoo dreads off he wants people to take him seriously
well, I'll take your prospective because you were dealing with it as a cop. My dealings with it are just stupid and limited.I would have to say that drugs don't cause cognitive impairment, but the addiction and need to get high again causes a major change in the mindset of the addict. Of the heroin addicts I had contact with as a cop, none were violent felons, but all turned to non-violent crime to get money to buy heroin. They do not want confrontation like a hardened street gangster. Their crime was usually in the form of larceny. Shoplifting from stores.. Breaking into cars and homes and stealing purses, money, and property. And then, reselling property to pawn shops and GameStop or craigslist. From this point of view, this makes most heroin addicts unproductive members of society and causes a burden on family and friend relationships, insurance companies and businesses.
I wouldn't say they are the most productive people. For example, there's this business man who owns a successful jewelry store. He can operate his business to keep it afloat, but I wouldn't call him a productive person. Trophy wife spends all his cash. They don't have a real relationship. He looks like a zombie next to a hot model.... - But this is for urban drug heads. The fact that in other segments of society people are functioning and are even some of the most productive people proves most of the points that Dude is saying...

All the veins in his arms have collapsed. He injects into his feet to get it into his circulation system. Yeah, he's white. But that's not really the point.
Another case, also a white guy, lived in a nice condo. This was in a fancy city condo so it had a nice view out the patio, parking garage, gated entrance, no riff-raff. We, the po-po, had to visit in case there was foul play. Dude OD'ed in the living room. He was living at home with his mother until he "got his act together". Mother came home and found him dead. He wasn't really what I would call productive.
Really, recreational drug-use is self-destructive behavior.
yeah..
but
What about all the normal people who occasionally sniff coke, I know a few white guys I've worked with in the past - they act and live normal lives.
I know a few pill poppers. I don't believe in all that stuff, but I say you can be normal.
Also, kush. How is this illegal? The fact that it's illegal and the fact that all these other social crimes have destroyed the black community - More so by the hand of the (you) po-po than from the drugs themselves is the main issue here.![]()
i'm not saying she was a crack head... just crackishReally, recreational drug-use is self-destructive behavior.
Whitney Houston is an example. She had it all. Productive? You could say so. Impoverished? No.
Her demise was a mix of various elements, but if she didn't have an addiction to crack from her past, she would still be alive.

CH: I often testify as an expert witness to help women who have used marijuana while pregnant to keep their children. Case after case is a black woman. Security in the court is all black; the judges are all white; and the lawyers are young and white, building careers. It’s just slavery all over again.
