I wish Wiggins the best. He got played out viciously. That said, I'm not sold on his potential to be a transcendent player.

Wolves got two #1s and a future pick for a man who had one foot out the the door and the other kicking them in the ass. When you look at what other teams have received for their departing "franchise" players, that's a victory.

Very true w/ respect to the Wolves getting a good deal, however, the L comes w/ the delay.

With Love having 1 foot out of the door, why delay the inevitable, especially w/ the best deal on the table. In my opinion, they have all but sealed the deal on Wiggins feeling spiteful when it comes to Wiggins resigning w/ them in the future.

Let's all thank Lebron for giving us a new NBA story narrative

...Because he just may have created a monster.

It feels like is was all good "just a week ago". Adam Silver, taking the podium at Draft night for the first time, announced who the first pick of his tenure at the helm of the NBA. That pick, chosen by the Cleveland Cavaliers, would be Andrew Wiggins. In the months prior, outside of serious basketball enthusiasts , Wiggins was the favorite for that no. 1 spot, he had the tools, the athleticism, & the star potential.

He, the media & basketball fans were ready to get comfortable calling him the future of the Cleveland Cavaliers. After all, since 1947, only 5 No.1 draft picks have been traded before they suited up for the team that drafted them. The new Superstar, starting Small forward of your Cleveland Cavaliers...Andrew Wiggins.

But then "I'm Coming Home" happened.

In that instant you could hear the nuclear bomb-like explosion that went off across the globe of anyone who followed Basketball. The rest of the sounds came from the simultaneous implosion of Miami Heat fans, both the diehards & the Miami fans that still don't know what Arena the Heat play at(It's the American Airlines Arena if you're one of them).

In an alternate universe, The Miami Heat, w/ Lebron in tow, are attempting to push Melo to join them, trying to improve their rebounding & interior defense & getting a Point guard who comes through when they need him. And the Cavaliers are preparing to get back into the playoff hunt, maybe as an 8th seed, w/ Kyrie Irving helping Wiggins develop into "the next".

But in this actual universe, we are witnessing something that, if brought up in conversation 2 months ago, would be laughed out of the barbershops and watercoolers. We have a Miami Heat, who's buzz as a premier team in the league has all but disappeared, who will not be mentioned as a contender for, at least, the foreseeable future, and a Cleveland team that has instantly become part of the conversation with a Lebron James, in a valiant effort, to revitalize his former team & hometown. Economists estimate a nearly $500 Million revitalization to Cleveland actually.

But a barbershop question was asked. A question that started a series of chess moves. A series of chess moves that outside of educated speculation, only 2 people could be sure of the ending checkmate, Bobby Fisher & Lebron James. This was his team now. That question...

...How do we go from "a contender" to "the favorite". Moves were made, veterans signed on & Andrew Wiggins being mentored by a Prime Lebron seemed like a scary sight. However, Lebron & Cleveland management were concocting something much more sensational. Acquiring Kevin Love. But how?

Kevin Love wanted out of Minnesota & Cleveland w/ Lebron was a desirable location. Lebron was back home and trying to build another superteam. The minds of this Basketball Ocean's Eleven brainstormed & there was one loose tooth in the jaws of NBA life... Andrew Wiggins.

He was the golden ticket that could make this all happen. It is almost certain since his first day hiring Bill Duffy as his sports agent, Duffy has been preparing him for the questions that are par for the course for most no. 1 draft picks, "Are you mentally ready to be the next IT guy?", "Does living up to your potential make you nervous?", "What kind of start can we expect to see you form you beginning season in the NBA?".

No. He's being asked about Lebron James. He's being asked about how the speculation of being traded has affected him. He's even been asked about what he would say to plead to Lebron to play with him. When you watch the interview you could see it in his eyes. This wasn't supposed to be like this. All he could really say was, "I just want to play for a team that wants me".

As we know, Minnesota didn't really want him either, he was a piece that made Kevin Love leaving a small w in a sea of L's that makes up Minnesota T'Wolves management. For a regular human, that kind of treatment by the people who control your future turns into damaged pride, in turns into chip on the shoulder.
cxx-wiggins-fly-16-e1407085436729.jpg

It turns into anger. And for a 19 year man, who may possibly be a superstar...that anger will be on full display on the court. This is the stuff of Batman comics, a youngling who faces a tragic betrayal hones his superhuman skillset & rips threw the comic universe w/ uncompromising vengeance. It may not be immediately apparent straight out of the gate, however when Wiggins becomes comfortable w/ the pacing of the NBA, don't be surprised if that chip on his shoulder has both Cleveland & Lebron one day saying, we should have kept that kid & Minnesota saying, we should have traded Love sooner.

Welcome to the NBA...Andrew Wiggins.

Great stuff!

I actually brought this subject up to a co-worker yesterday. "Imagine Wiggins ends up becoming an all-time great?!" His response was "The only way to off-set the way history views the Cavs organization is to win chips with Lebron, Love and Kyrie." And I have to agree...if Wiggins becomes superstar, it won't be as bad if Lebron can bring some championships to Cleveland.

It's funny how the Media doesn't make a big thing about how the Cavs have treated Wiggins, or any organization leaving a player in limbo for that matter, it's just the cost of doing business when it's a player getting shytted on - but God forbid a franchise player, who honors his contract, leaves a team.
