Let's talk about "TV Quality" shaming. Ain't nothing wrong with 1080p...

We're you good when VHS was around and said you didn't need DVD? :troll:

Really moreso than the upstick in resolution, HDR is the biggest gamechanger when it comes to UHD.

You can't compare those mediums with live tv streaming. 720 vs 1080 resolution really doesn't matter. 720 displays in 1080i it's just interlaced instead of progressive scan but with the low bitrates it's not making a difference worth running to go buy a new tv.

I might get a new one if I decide to get a PS4 pro, but I don't buy games that often. I have a PS4 already.

Breh 720 looks like shyt. It's embarrassing some big networks still broadcast in 720

I'm already used to 4k/uhd and HDR so when I watch Mr Robot it looks awful.

True most cable apps are 1080 but i stream tons of Netflix originals which are almost all 4k or hdr

Me personally I think you can achieved a better picture and color Quality by playing around in Vivid and dynamic picture modes settings.
I think movie mode makes pictures look washed out.
I think HDR is just a color and enhancement filter like in photoshop
I think 4K and Blu-ray disk has more picture Quality than streaming, the average blu ray disk/4k disk are 25GB - 100GB/ I know streaming is compressed
I think if you don't play games or hate to pay extra for 4k content you don't need a 4K TV
I think movies have different picture Quality
I think anything after 4k OLED is stupid
I think if you are sitting further back from the TV you couldn't tell the difference from 4K and 1080p

just my opinion :francis:

4k with HDR is worth it yes, 4k alone is :yeshrug: the sweet spot would probably have been 1080 with HDR if you watch tv. 4k alone with movies isn't a huge deal. It's a different argument sort of with video games though, but the only time 4k really had me impressed was with HDR

What does this even mean? Do you mean 4K SDR?

No... there's 4k, and then 4k with HDR, 4k with HDR looks much better than 4k without.
yes 4k without hdr=4k sdr.

You mentioned movies only. If you're buying these movies on disc there's a 99.9% chance it will have HDR.

I edited my post, my bad breh, but I only mentioned movies because outside of games there's nothing on the broadcast side taking advantage of it. But what I'm saying is basically watching movies (I guess I should have included streaming also) in 4k sdr isn't the huge jump it's made out to be unless it's hdr.
I say that because I had a 4k tv and it honestly didn't look much better than my old 1080 tv, but I did replace it with a 4k with HDR and it was night and day to me.
