Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Coming to America just came on TV, and I got to thinking :ohhh:

Lion King basically ripped off the entire storyline

- Akeem is a prince, who is heir to the throne... so was Simba

- Akeem was pampered growing up, never knew any adversity in his life, his wife already arranged for him... Simba grew up pampered, being followed by his father's assistant, his mate already arranged for him

- Akeem traveled to a land different to his home, to learn more about himself, see what he was made of. Simba went to a different village to learn about himself

- Akeem met his future bride when we went to a different land. Simba found Nala again when we was living in the different village

The father of Akeem was played by James Earl Jones
The Father of Simba, Mufasa, was played by James Earl Jones :ohhh:

The mother of Akeem was played Madge Sinclair
The mother of Simba was played by.... you guessed it... Madge Sinclair :gladbron:

You ain't never heard of the 7 basic plots? The hero experiences a life changing event, seeks vengeance, is too weak to defeat the foe, ventures out into the world, finds allies, trains with help from allies, and defeats his foe at the end.

You're reaching. The Lion King borrows heavily from Hamlet.

A prince gets pushed out of his birthright by his jealous uncle who marries his brother's/the king's wife after murdering him, only for the lost prince to return and reclaim the throne.

It's Hamlet.
