Your reaching. :sas1:

Compared to the females in Megaman Zero they arent a Japanese stereotype.

90's anime style always have mature, non-kawaii designs. You know the Berserks, Ninja Scrolls, Ghost in the Shell types and even the Yu Yu Hakushos.

It wasn't until mid 2000's that Japan anime got fukked up with moe garbage. My point still stands. Megaman X uses an anime design, period. :leostare:

Megaman X is similar to Transformers and GI Joe which both uses the american military style with a robotic twist.

It doesnt have barely any anime tropes compared to Megaman Zero

All of the designs and storylines of Megaman X bosses were mainly centered around military/american themes. :ehh:

I don't remember GI Joe and Transformer having cute female characters like in the megaman.

Scarlet and Lady Jaye doesn't have any "kawaii" factor that female anime characters had although they hot in a different aura.

And btw, this thread was about how devs fukked up when they try to appeal to western audiences hard like turning games to casual shooters, not on how games was influenced based on their lore and settings.

GI Joe and Transformers is american. Megaman X is western influenced. The design for Megaman X from start to finish was done by Keiji Inafune so of course it would look similar to anime.

If you took the designs of those women and turned them into robots they would look similar to the characters you quoted earlier if animated by a person from Japan. Megaman X is western influenced not western made like GI Joe.

This thread is about how westernisaiton ruined japanese franchises. Im arguing the opposite by saying how it actually improved it in the case of Megaman X who used american military theme to make it more mature. Youd be hard pressed to find any japanese anime fads in Megaman X lol.

You will never hear me saying Metal Gear and Souls weren't western influenced games because it is, in terms of presentation, lore and theme. But like I said, that was not the point of this thread. The point is when devs try so hard to appeal at western audiences (see RE: ORC), they fukk up so badly. Megaman X still had the original art design from JP, same but improved gameplay from the original Megaman series. It maybe a coincidence that western developers fukked up, but history told us so.

Transformers is japanese.. and GI Joe was animated in the east.

MMX design is not american/western. It's not bulky.. and it actually looks cool

That ORC and new multi re 3rd person shooter is stupid. Capcom should have just did a HD Outbreak and made a file 3. I know Capcom wanted that COD fps money. Hell all those japanese companies wanted that shyt. But what do they go and do...
create a bunch of 3rd person shooters:skip:

shyt is so stupid... I would have expected something like Titanfall or Overwatch from them. But I don't think they were really thinking everything through.

Art designs centered around American/Millitary aka western influence.

Once you compare it to Megaman Zero which has anime fads then you will see the obvious difference.

Megaman X went onto Megaman Zero. It was a conversion to a new style and not a a conversion because of failure.

MZero is full of anime tropes.

Why do you insist on arguing with that? :mindblown:

Megaman X still retains the core gameplay of the orginal Megaman. The only difference is it was more mature and more fluid in gameplay. It didn't change from action-platformer to generic 3rd person shooter, just to appeal to western audience.

I already told you that many Japanese games, especially JRPGs have many western influence and lores. But that wasn't my point. Golden Axe, Contra, Castlevania, Resident Evil and Silent Hill doesn't always have those animu designs but they are clearly japanese games.

Keiji Inafune was responsible for establishing the western-designed game and Adi Granov was responsible for X's new design

I'm just glad this didn't went through, given the series of fukkeries of trying to appeal to western audiences. Megaman X was fine as it was.

And first person shooter :scust:

This is the only valid westernization argument you had.

Megaman wasnt western influenced. Megaman X was because they wanted a mature tone.

You do know what western influence means right? It means that its a japanese game that is western influenced. :martin:

That cancelled game was not the only westernisation argument I had because I didnt use the word westernization. I said western influence and havent said anything else :snoop:

Japanese IPs were under water long before they started tapping western devs for assistance. They asked for help because they saw a decline in their market share.

the average kid under 14 years of age has never played Dmc, resident evil, Zelda or castlevania. They have played COD, halo, gears, and GTA.

japan has lost their appeal with American gamers permanently. They can only reliably sell games to the 30+ demographic.

And how does turning franchises into shooters helped?:stopitslime:

I agree that turning them into weaboo fapservices doesn't help either.

Japanese IPs declined not because of them being archaic, it's because their main audience (the japanese people) shifted into portable devices. Look how 3Ds and Vita games sold well in Japan than any console games. Add to that is the lack of marketing of some promising Japanese IPs (Sega, in general) and continuous flops of game established games , critically.

COD and GTA sure...
Halo.. I dunno I think Halo's time has past
Gears at this point? nah.... ain't no kids checkin for gears

I wouldn't say Japan has lost their appeal permanently.. hell from what I'm seein. It looks like there poised to make a come back over here.

Not with the tone deaf keyboard cat doing the soundtrack they didn't.:what:

Even the shyt Sonic games from Sonic team had good music, I dunno what the fukk you can even call this piece of ear rape.:scust:

:laff::laff::laff::laff::laff: what is this shyt :dead:

But yeah, I agree.

Bandai Namco really pissed me the fukk off with all of the stupid fukking weeaboo fanservice bullshyt they've put into Tekken AND Soul Calibur. Tekken looks like they might as well be trying to sell the shyt to teenage girls, and Soul Calibur has turned into basically playing dress up with fighting in between :scusthov:
