He's not better on the mic at serious, main event promos. He might be better at the goofy sh1t.
He's known to have fed Meltzer stories for years. Feeding the top wrestling journalists backstage stories led to him getting written about online as a much bigger deal than he was in real life for years (yea he was over in WCW, so were a lot of guys at that time. He was no more over in 1998 than Konnan), and hardcore internet fans being vocally behind someone can convince them to push people when they are needing new top stars.
