There are several tapes, not all have been released, and if you listen it's not just the words used, it's not a case where the word slipped out, it's the content of what he was saying. I could break this down further at some point if necessary. I'm not saying you have to forgive Ice Cube, I'm not even saying you SHOULD not forgive Emeinem, that's a personal choice, I'm speaking for myself. I don't condone Ice Cube's words either. i guess eminem had a really bad childhood and it came bubbling in 1993. i know for fact he got the shyt beat out him since he was 8.

Black people have to bend on the nikka thing.

We all know where the word originated from but we flipped it on em. Now it could mean friend. Now it could mean brother. Everyone here on this forum who loves hip hop enough to talk about it and share our thoughts on one another... you all my nikkas.

So when another man insists on callin you his brother, don't look at his skin color. If we expect white people not to judge us on the color of our skin and treat us as equals, then we should expect the same thing from ourselves. When a dude like Eminem who you know is clearly NOT a racist wants you to be his brother, his friend, his fan... his nikka... don't look for a reason to feel offended. We all know the feeling when that word is used in hate, so we should easily be able to differentiate when it's being used in love.

If we really wanted, we could change the meaning of the word forever. But it's not gonna happen if we keep that negative stigma attached to it and get mad every time someone who isn't black uses it. Context people... CONTEXT. After generations and generations of people of all colors using the word in a positive light... the racist cacs who used it in hate in the past aren't gonna have a leg to stand on anymore and the hate behind that word could disappear forever.
