Did you sleep through 1998/1999?

Are we talking about popularity or what?

Jay, Biggie, Big L, Big Pun, both members of Outkast, Scarface, Redman, Ghostface, Nas, Prodigy, and more were better than DMX based on two albums. shyt I'd take Lauryn Hill too :manny:

It's Dark and Hell is Hot was a better album than Vol. 2 and I love both of them.

Why are you bringing up B.I.G in 1999 ? You thought Born Again was a better album than Flesh of My Flesh :dead:

X had popularity, the streets, quality music, chart topping singles, classic videos, etc

:wow: That's my drug addict

To answer OP's question I would say had X died after his 2nd album he would be in many peoples top 10-15 of all time....Cant speak on Em cause he's :trash:

This is also the reason why I put Jay over B.I.G in my alltime list (even though I liked B.I.G better) is because its much harder to sustain a consistent career that spans decades. Who knows what kind of music Big and Pac would have been making in the 2000's.

DMX probably wouldn't be, honestly. And X is my dude.

You wouldn't be able to avoid a vast majority of white hip-hop fans saying Eminem was the G.O.A.T... Infinite would be more renowned. And a vast majority of hip-hop fans that buy albums are white, in general.

Em's talent is undeniable though and i think if Eminem and Jay Z died it'd have had just as much as impact as Pac and B.I.G

Both were on there way to legendary status (despite what many of us think of them) do you think that would have been cemented if they died or better yet murdered ala biggie n pac? Imagine X dying after Flesh of my flesh, or Em right as the Eminem show was coming out. They woulda been top 3 DOA in most rap books

i think dmx would have been solidified top 5 status if he had died in 99 before 'and then there was x came out'. .
everyone would have gave him that, with what he already came out with, and we wouldve all assumed we all lost out on greatness to come.... he woulda gotten more clout nowadays... but since hes alive, his status now is :flabbynsick:

eminem, i think, wouldve gotten more respect if he woulda went lights out in his bathroom that day. i think people would be going over his shyt differently, because the re up wouldve been the last album he ever made.
no relapse..no recovery.

dmx - dec 99
eminem - dec 07

music history wouldve changed like whoa
