Basically... death makes everyone better... well, at least those who had some quality work to stand on.
So yeah, DMX would be a fukkin' icon right now... nobody woulda seen how hard he fell off. Everyone would talk about how his career was just gettin' started and he was about to become the greatest. I'm sure they woulda put out mad made-up shyts and tribute albums n whatnot...
And Em, well, he's the perennial #1 MC to a lotta white folks, even those who don't really listen to rap. And that's not a discredit to him, but he was definitely the answer for those fans who wanted to see someone who looked like them and could rhyme above average and was a star. He was it, so he became the de facto favorite damn near overnight. If he had died in like 2003, he woulda def. been crowned the G.O.A.T. by all the major music outlets.
Nobody ever looks at the downside of what coulda happened to the great deceased rappers, I guess cause it's easier to believe they never woulda fallen off.
