Outkast… Atlanta is what people think of when they say “The South”. Atlanta has held the torch for hiphop and R&B since Outkast got on The Source Awards stage and said, “The South got something to say.”

OutKast also has the highest selling hiphop album of all time. TI had Texas nikkas bringing their behind the scenes strife to the forefront and fukked up their unity, so their little run only lasted about a year. Wayne is New Orleans but he was influenced by NY. Kast kept it Atlanta…

False. Y’all nikkas be dragging it. The south didn’t get on to almost a decade later

Impact =/= Influence.

Out of the list, I would say T.I. and Jeezy. You could put Gucci in there as well. From them, there's a whole sub-genre of Trap.

With Kast, they really put ATL on in a way that nobody else did. The slang, the different parts of Atlanta and their videos were shot there showcasing the different hoods. They gave us whole other take on Southern Hip Hop at a time when people only respected the Geto Boys/Scarface and looked at everybody else as one hit wonders.

South wasn't taken seriously til Outkast
:manny:
Outkast's first album was released in 1994. Geto Boys in 1991 had a NATIONAL hit and was performing nationwide, including an episode of Yo MTV Raps.

And for anyone mentioning Wayne, the south had arrived by the time his first album dropped. You also can't forget 2 live Crew and all they went through just so mfers can curse on record and not have their albums pulled out of the stores.
