This. You're watching the movie wrong. The art is imitating life. He's messing around with a young chick because that type of thing happens frequently in real life.

Yes the movie gives them a dope aura behind their criminal acts but it also shows their criminal enterprise falling apart and Tommy ultimately coming to his senses and possibly seeking redemption. Weak-minded people could take his character as someone to emulate but they were clearly trying to make him grimy and realistic. Sincere is telling you plenty of times throughout the movie how fukked up and corrupted Tommy is. The "blatant pedophilia" isn't there to support pedophilia. It's there to reinforce the negativity of the character and show just how dirty he is.

It doesn't show him and the 16 year old as a fairy-tale love story. The scenes that involve her are strictly "oh this nikka low down"
