Let's be real, RG3 will regress if the Skins keep playing him like this

That's what I hope happens but Shanny had been known to do what works till the death regardless if it's good for the player.

they know they can't do the option stuff to this frequency much longer and I listened on the radio to a Shannahan interview saying as much... i'd be very surprised if they do it this much midway through next season into 2014.. but with his mobility I'm sure its going to be apart of their playbook

I remember when Mora was hired for the Falcons and they tried to use Vick to just win games and not develop him like Reeves was doing. Vick went from the NFL most deadly player to a runner who had a cannon but no real skills. Not saying they are the same but screens, the run option read, behind the line of scrimmage passes, and the occasional deep ball isn't really developing RG3 into a top tier level NFL QB. As much as I can't stand Luck apologist, at least he is on pace to be an elite NFL QB in 2015. RG3 is on pace to regress like Vick did with Mora.

The Skins need to play RG3 like a real QB. I understand the Skins did that at first and started 3-6 but this real type of Football but this advanced HS scheme just isn't good for RG3 career long term as I seen in Atlanta with Vick. It's good in moderation but when you use it just to get wins, it is like cheating.

thats what ive been saying. They dont throw the ball if it is not play action. And it looked like they weren't even thinking of throwing the ball. What makes it worse is that RG3 is not even a great effective runner.

:snoop: If you've watched the first Redskins Dallas games you would understand why. The first time around Dallas got shredded by the pass on Thanksgiving. Multiple 30+ yard TDs. Rob Ryan was determined this time around to not get beat by the pass again. Deep safeties all game long who were instructed never to bite on read option fake no matter what even if it meant they couldnt help support on the run. Along with the corners doing press man on all our WRs. (I fully expect Seahawks to try the same strategy). Why would you continue trying to force throws with possibility of turnovers like Andrew Luck in that type of coverage when you have a top 5 rusher?

What makes it worse is that RG3 is not even a great effective runner.
:snoop: Ya man 68 yards on 6 carries with a TD last night :comeon:

These fools don't understand the game. Back in Mannings rookie season is where you could rape wide outs on the outside. There was no protection of the qb so getting hit high contributed to a lot of picks.

In today's game, pass happy league there is really no reason to have 15 plus picks unless you are reckless with the ball.

Of course he will regress... But not because of the way they are using him.. Because he's been damn near perfect and it's gonna be impossible to keep up this pace long term...

i am not talking about yards ran and what amount of carries. I am talking about purposeful runs.

what about the intermediate routes? All i am saying is that in the long run this type of offense doesn't make a QB improve.
Ask yourself this question. Why do they run a more vertical offense with Cousins under center? why not run the same plays when Rg3's knee is not 100%?

you think COwboys had a good gameplan. Wait until you see what the Seahawks do.

My man. He rushed for first downs and he rushed for a touchdown. How much more purposeful can you get on a run?

That is what Dallas was so focused on.. taking away the intermediate and deep routes which is why Morris was able to go ham. Why keep forcing it if you can just run it with ease? Also, how you gonna say in the long run this type of offense doesn't make a QB improve when this is the first time this type of offense has ever been seen in the league? If it was so foolish & gimmicky then why is half your division starting to put it in their playbook now? :comeon: Stop it bruh.

The hawks defense will be the best we've faced all year no doubt. We'll be ready tho :myman: will be a good game

And the audacity of Hawks fans to talk about RG3 regressing in a gimmick offense is laughable seeing as how their offense was struggling till they started incorporating the pistol too.

Following the Seattle Seahawks Week 4 loss to the St. Louis Rams, head coach Pete Carroll was in search of answers for an offense that was struggling to find production.

The Seahawks were converting just 28-percent of their third down opportunities for the season and quarterback Russell Wilson had just thrown three interceptions in a 19-13 loss to the Rams. Wilson and the Seattle passing game had yet to throw for more than 160 yards in a game and Seattle had failed to score more than 20 points in three of their first four games. :pachaha:

Carroll decided to take a look at the success the Washington Redskins and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan were having with fellow rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III at the helm. Carroll went to school on how the Redskins were using Griffin and how they were relying heavily on the read-zone option offense that Griffin ran while at Baylor.

“I was impressed with how much they got out of it,” Carroll said. “…They’re way ahead of everybody else in terms of their commitment to a really college style of offense and it’s been very effective.” :ohhh:

In the weeks since, Seattle has added more read-option to their offense and Wilson’s productivity has taken sizable steps forward. Wilson has thrown for nine touchdowns with just four interceptions over the last five games and has three games with a passer rating of 96.8 or better. Success getting the ball in the end zone has improved as well as the Seahawks have scored touchdowns on six of their last eight red zone possessions.

Seattle has been able to continue to have success running the football with Marshawn Lynch out of the shotgun and mixing in their more traditional run game as well. While Wilson isn’t the athlete Griffin is, he does have the capability to run the zone-read option well enough to make defenses honest. Seattle then found success running play-action off the read-option to find completions down field against the Minnesota Vikings last week.

“It was a good move for me and it’s helped up a little bit,” Carroll said. “I was influenced a little bit more than I thought when I first looked at. You see some of our stuff coming to life and it’s helping us.”

so let me get this straight, when RG3 uses it he's regressing, but when Wilson uses it he's amazing and rookie of the year? nikka please :childplease:

RG3 will be gone by yr 3 and kirk Cousins will come in to save the day, Shanny dont believe in gimmick qb's, Alfred Morris carried the skins to the offs, (they will rue the day), that team is basura altho they do play with heart. But now they'll start feeling themselves, its still the same plodding skins...Fletcher and Hall are their impact players on D, :heh:
