I meant to make a thread that says rappers that stay relevant are comfortable making music on any type of production.

Jay z and Wayne can rap over anything and never sound out of place.

Music changes about every 3 years but there are only a few talents that seamlessly move with the times

Wayne is not capable of rapping over complex beats like Jay-Z. stop it.

Oh drake is a very underwelming talent and its a pity his albums don't live up to the hype but imo hes better off ghostwriting like Gator King said R&B shyt too.

Pick a type a production that Wayne will us e trouble rapping over?

Dude has rapped over everything and has made hit records on different eras

Being "poor" in a country with free medical care and an extremely low crime rate isn't the same as growing up in Detroit in the 80's crack era..He still had a nice home and plenty of money for tuna fish and fresh rye bread...

Canada ain't about that life....

:umad:

It's all relative, you can't be poor in a country that has running water, welfare and child labor laws.

Exactly.. So relative to a culture that was birthed in the Bronx in the 1970s, Drake isn't poor...Just like some starving kid in Haiti doesn't wanna hear about how poor Chief Keef is with his Jordans and I-Phone...

The point is bring up any hardships Drake might have had is useless to this discussion...

We saw the clips on the internet.. His life was comfortable...

All things considered, he's prolly the best record man in urban music right now (I'll stress urban music, because of this misnomer that he's a "pop star"...make no mistake, the jew you love to hate is DOMINATING BLACK MUSIC...if you're denying this fact you're delusional...this isn't Eminem we're talking here)...in the three and half years or so since he's hit the scene, he's been making hits at literally a record breaking pace..for himself and others...Aston Martin Music was a random throwaway track he didn't use, he gives to Rick Ross and becomes the highest charting single of his career...i get that the art of hitmaking is something that's downplayed and dismissed on messegeboards, but trust it's definitely a talent...rap wise, lyrically he's nicer than he'll ever really credit for...rnb wise, he's not a legit singer at all...but one of these new school dream/frank ocean/weeknd dudes that are great rnb writers who use studio effects to mask the fact they can't sing a lick...far as the criticism and all that, he'll never escape it and there's really nothing he can do about it...he's an easy target....he's prolly the most textbook example of "tragic mulatto" syndrome in hip hop history and he has to carry around the baggage of being "real hip hop/messageboard orthodoxy" supervillian for coming off as corny, being a big mainstream star who sings, slaying a 90's "real hip hop" hero on wax, and being affiliated with YMCMB and all that...so it is what it is....we're like years passed the point where there's any kind use whatsoever trying to argue people down or change stances...everyone has picked their line in the sand at this point

I've always said Drake can rap... he has some talent.

But his singing ability is overblown. Like someone else said pull up a video of of him singing live.

He just isn't my cup of tea and after a few songs of his I normally can't take anymore

I don't mind it cause I have a son and I would rather him listen to Drake than Chief Keef or Lil Wayne, but if I threw on some Drake in the car this afternoon he would look at me like :childplease:

I like his hook and verse on No Lie though, that was the first time in a long time that he didn't say some lame sh!t on a verse that made me be like :comeon:

Anybody can make a hit record as long as the beat is tight.

What i'm saying is wayne doesn't have a the skill set of Jay to rap on complex beats. like Let the Beat Build was terrible from wayne, half the album he spit on from Carter 3 and 4 were cringeworthy and embarassing. Incoherent ramblin, strays off topic, corny wordplay, no direction in subject matter. just mindless lyrics but together with a off beat flow. I mean look at the posse cut with Tech 9, Dre Nas etc (witch is a amazing beat) all these elite MC"s but then you got wayne and compared to them he just horrible rapper.

He's talented and there's no doubt he had made hot music. But When Vets like Luda, Lil Kim, Common and DMX all come at you, I have to take notice that he's pissing off way to many Legends and Vets in the Game. 1st he jumps in the Nicki beef with Lil Kim when she didn't even say anything about him. Then he criticized Luda's flow like he had the authority to talk about someone of Luda's status rhyming skills. Then He said "If you diss me you will never hear a reply" and sends subliminals at Common on "Stay Schemin". Even though Common said "If you think Sweet is about you then so be it". Finally X goes in on him on doing the 1st new Aaliyah song in 10 years and you don't even reach out to her musical family. The fact is Drake been feeling himself way to much, he's not humble, he has let success go to his head. Musically again he is talent and both of his albums are about 4 MICS, but they aren't Classics. The fact is he's over saturated the market and people are growing tired so more disses will come.

when terrence howard gets to drop as djay, from hustle and flow.

then gets the same acclaim what would fans say then.
drake is a classically trained version of arsenio hall.
complete with ghostwriters, playing chunky A meets mei phi me/prince b from pm dawn without a fat suit.

that is why i do not like him.
anyone can morph emo underground dated technical skills from overcast in 96.
then, make god's bathroom floor styke records with accessible rnb styling and yanni/depeche mode dated production from 90's dated violator with an urban feel.

the nikka is a wack communications classically trained major with payola.

fukk that soft efeminate ass goof lame ass boi.

him his whole liar faced, steal and unpay other artist on the label and them scary nikkaz.

c murder was chasing off stage around la back in 2ooo.

if you were in canada and worldly in the 2000's.
you would know canada. while the us was fronting on its own underground.
actually listened to all forms of lyrically proficient rap.
to the point even female rappers like sarai from canada in o3.

rapped eminem biter circles around american white girl l'trimm ya mama's on crack rock racist white rappers like kreayshawn.
a full decade predating drake, kos and their wackness.

emo/underground rap that now has been stolen and repackaged as sellout trash.

with a bigger budget on a major.
if you dudes were not late and lame!
you would not ever give drake credit.
