I still dont see the whole point of gamepass... it's not a new idea they've been trying to do this shyt from the old xbox and was called out on the bullshyt.. with the DRM and no used games, people conviently forget.
MS is a bunch of idiots because they give no PC gamer or any others to buy their system if ALL OF THEIR EXCLUSIVES CAN BE PLAYED FOR PC!!!
MICROSOFT DOES NOT CARE IF YOU BUY THEIR SYSTEM
You aren't seeing the bigger picture.
Microsoft is doing the game thing that apple did with Itunes, the only difference is (for now) they are giving you value along with it.
Apple want's you in the itune's eco system to the point you have so much saved, customized, backed up, and fine tuned that you don't want to move over to any other ecosystem. Xbox is going that same route, but are offering value to get you hooked in.
Xbox is the gaming console to get you locked into that, but they don't care if you don't by a series X if you getting gamepass on PC to play.
That doesn't mean they don't want the XsX to sell, because "ultimately" without success of the Xbox brand, gamepass wouldn't last with just PC accessibility... however in the long run when gamepass and Xcloud become available on more and more devices. "this smart tv's" it you'll see xbox and microsoft starting to look more and more like stadia.
Nintendo lowkey is doing this with old stuff now on the switch, and I know the NES and SNES get plenty of burn, and that's 4.99 a month for that (online service)
And yes you are right this whole digital era of games shared and played has been the plan, the no use games thing was simply because the game was bought digitally, the DRM and always online was so that you could share you games with up to 10 people of your choosing.
Fast forward to today and digital download is mad popular, people are always online and sharing digital games is a thing.
