I used to walk into pewter city with Butterfree & Pidgey fukking everybody up

I remember way back when I first got yellow I spent hours training Pikachu in an attempt to beat Brock, got him to like level 20 and still couldn't do it but yeah, you pretty much had no choice but to train Caterpie to a Butterfree for that Confusion. As soon as I beat Brock, Butterfree's wack ass was thrown in the PC bushes

lol same thing I did got butterfree to level 12 for confusion and spammed it in the gym fight then went back to pikachu for the water

bulbasaur was so shytty to me I can see how he would be good against the first bosses but later on leaf was just so weak in general. I could deal with the fire and water cuz the damage was good and they looked cool. oh and at yellow making me have to actually go and train a bug pokemon to get passed the first gym

Venasaur had high stats and power but his half poison type made him a weaker choice over all.


But let's not at like from early to mid game he wasn't a BEAST

The only Gym leaders that Venusaur would have problems with were Sabrina and Blaine and you don't fight them until later in the game anyway

you were pretty much putting the game on hard mode until you found some better pokemon. plus that yellow version back in the day was bullshyt with that pikachu that never wanted to take a thunderstone

generally fire type got >>>> attack but they get knocked the fukk out quick
water types got the ill defense but attack is meh
grass types got somewhere in between but they have alot of trcks like sleep powder and shyt... but alos more weaknesses

bulbasaur is trash compared to the other two in fire red but in the o.g. red he was str8... fukking weak to fire-ice-flying-psychic

This. That gust attack was giving them that work. Kept mine all the way threw its third evolve.

yea squirtle was easy mode, other the later gyms don't stand a chance against hydro pump. but once you figured out psychic pokemon>>> the games becomes cake

You if you did'nt bother to catch that Mankey west of Viridian in the grass where you battle Gary.. Most vital Pokemon to catch early on if you chose Charmander, that and a good Sandshrew.
