Once you get that history lesson, then study and take the test, you have no urge to revisit the material :manny:

Its great lyrically, great beats, great content, but it lacks from a musical standpoint.

I tried to listen while driving and straight turned that shyt off.

It's a great album, i bought his 1st two, but sorry, this is too preachy.

nope.
One of the best LPs this year. Deal with it.

Two overreactions at the same damn time :smugfavre:

This thread is so ridiculous I actually cracked a smile while typing this sentence.

"great lyrics, great beats, great content, but no replay value" <- :what:
Replay value is very strong.

I also find it hilarious that a Lil Wayne fanatic of all people is saying this LOL.

The Booth, ladies and gentlemen.

lmao

Dude drops the most lyrical album of all time, laces it with catchy ass modern production, keeps the themes extremely varied and we got dumbasses saying it lacks replay value.

We need 4-5 more songs for Food & Liquor II part 2 dedicated to haters, coke and the bytches. That'll up the replay value fo sho.

You should've never stopped stanning Lil Wayne, Gator. This lyrical with substance life ain't for you.

So wait wait wait LOL

You bumped Dedication 4 for THREE WEEKS before deciding it had no replay value, yet F&L II has been out for a week and you already decided?

I bet 40% of the album's lyrics is still flying way over your confused ass head too.

How you say it has great beats, then say it lacks musically :dwillhuh:

How you say it has great content, then say it's too preachy :dwillhuh:

good beats done = good music

lyrics, melodies and all that = good music

the hooks are mostly :scusthov:

the songs are all structured the same :why:

and each verse is a history lesson :wtf:

the content is good, but who wants to re-listen to him preaching about saving the world?

Its simple. someone can have great content (Nas) but make boring music (Nas)

Kendrick makes a great message, catchy hook, dope beat and it doesnt sound like a history lesson (swimming pools)

So music has something to do with IQ? :what:

I listen to music for enjoyment nikka. Ill read a book for all that shyt.

I learned a lot from Lupe, and enjoyed the album, but musically, it sucks. i cant get jiggy to that shyt. :leon:
you're not supposed to get jiggy to everything.

this is something yall dont understand.

There was a time. LONG LONG AGO> lol.(i'm telling this like a harry potter story)

Where you could either catch a video or on the radio and hear different TYPES of hiphop.

Some straight club bangers, some hits with a little message, some songs that were made for the herb nation, some songs that were made to chill with ya girl.
I'm over hear listening to this songza plalist with all dungeon family produce stuff. and goodie mob is on. 100% black improvement(we need to get it together) music. Cee-lo going in. spitting knowlege. the music was mood music ,not danceable music. some would just leave it on in the background because it was good music for that purpose to let that knowledge sink in slow. again this was even true for the herb nation folk that use to listen to them.

now then you have outkast from the same crew. similar approach but their songs are more upbeat, some songs are danceable, others are HIT records. but all of them were kicking knowlege, from street knowledge, to american history, world history, black history.

then you had use to have the Whoop There it is type of songs. straight hits, Club hits, radio hits. we all liked those songs too. then you turn that Nas on and get a new york state of mind. good music when you on that train(bus) to school or work in the morning in the winter time. then you hear some west coast mcee giving you a west coast banger spitting that gutta street life.

we had all of it all at once. NOW you only have one type of hiphop being played on the radio/videos. and thats all thats being pushed even on the internet in the fake underground scene. where these labels RE-launch a lot of their shelved artists careers.

this is why your ears are so messed up into thinking you need lupe's album to be a bunch of Club bangers or trunk bangers to make you love it. you dont need that to love the album anyway. there's no need to say "its a great album but.." take the but off. its a great album for what it is. listen to it. move on to something else when you feel like listening to something else. then when you get sick of that cotton candy club rap that aint about nothing. turn that lupe back on again . the more you rock with lupe. the more lupes will be created. the more lupe's created the more diverse even lupe's type of music will become. you will find someone that can do what lupe does. but do it to danceable tracks(OUTKAST) vs Goodie mob. but if you SHUN lupe and keep saying how it has no replay value or you cant listen to it because it doesnt bang or there are no HITS on the album. then you are setting up a situation where less lupe's will want to rap since they know they wont be successful or taken seriously by the fans. so why even try. this means you get more cotton candy party, club rap. as if all you do all day is club and party. music is a soundtrack to life. its not supposed to be stuck in one room(the club).

:dwillhuh:

i dont listen to everything out there breh

the music was garbage back then too.

i was bumping Lupe, Nas, Weezy, Camron, and Hoiv back then. And The Game.

you must be an oldhead with that tired ass argument :old:
yep that same tired argument still rings true today. CHANGE it or we'll keep banging yall out about it.

but look at your list.

lupe-introspective + a little street knowlege - with introspective like music
Nas-introspective + a lot more street knowledge-with some introspective like music as well as some boom bap hiphop beats
Cam- unlawful street knowledge and jokes, with soul samples sped up and what not. still a nice east coast vibe but doesnt sound like nas

Weezy- 100% jokes and rapping for the sake of saying a slick line. beats are southern hit style of music.

Jigga-unlawful street knowledge/ lawful street knowledge, personal stories - nice mix of boom bap hiphop, other east coast soul sampling hiphop and maybe some semi obscure stuff.

The game- unlawful street knowledge, rapping about being Game in todays game. from a westcoasters point of view to east coasters idea of what west coast music would sound like by east coast producers. as well as a mix of west coast type of production.

NOn of these dudes sound the same. and that was the beauty of your even a few years ago. right now. everybody is sounding alike. except for lupe.
