This is one area where I admit Dems have a leg up. Conservatives REFUSE to acknowledge the validity of ASL & dismiss it as a “not real language”. That is so incorrect.
ASL has been studied & proven to be a true actual language with its own syntax, grammar, & morphology

I'm sorry, but we have to stop with the ridiculous sign language interpreters, who turn serious press conferences into a farce. There are closed captions on all broadcast channels and streaming services. No wild human gesticulators necessary.

Since the 1960s. And ASL is not just “English” on the hands. Its grammatical structure is VERY different from English, more similar to the grammatical rules of Spanish. And Deaf people can’t access spoken information the same way hearing people can. ASL makes it accessible.

I really wish more would educate themselves on this. This is NOT a DEI thing. This is a need for linguistic access that closed captioning just cannot provide. Ever.

Well, just from what I’ve seen as a deaf/ASL signer in the last 10 years, I’ve had more negative experiences with conservatives over ASL than liberals. It’s why my husband & many deaf friends of mine vote Dem. Dems are more willing to get an ASL interpreter while R’s are not.
