I've been hoping for that movie ever since I read the book(GREAT book) years ago and when I heard Scorsese was going to direct and DeNiro to star it it sounded too good to be true...

...which it probably is. At this point I've given up on it.

Kinda depends on the character. He was so good as Constantine and I’d say that character requires some real acting but it was also up Keanu’s wheelhouse. He would’ve been a great Spike Spiegel
