I watched his doc on Showtime some years ago. I'm going to be honest...

Lenny never wanted to hoop. He was just doing it because he was freakishly athletically gifted and because hood nikkas was placing bets on him and breaking him off with some of what they won. I don't think he ever had the mental capacity to sustain a career like LeBron, Melo, or even his homie Noah.

And I thought he was going around the country giving speeches and shyt?

No matter how athletically you’re gifted once you get pressed at the upper levels most just quit. Simmons is a similar case but he’s on a different level of talent

Its a sad, cautionary tale. Because of how his academic career went moreso than the hoop stuff. His academic issues shoulda been identified and adressed way earlier. There very well might not have been any hoop stuff, well at least to the level it got, if he was in the right grade. Dude was 19 at that legendary ABCD camp with Bron in 2001. Bron was 16. He was 2 full years older than Melo as well. They werent peers. During the time when he was a HS phenom he shoulda been in college.

This is the biggest thing. There was no reason he shouldnt have went d1 or overseas and made bank. It was his own fault and theres no accountability
