Lennon Vs McCartney..Who was the better writer/composer?

The 101 is dropping science. John's was a tremendous songwriter and great compliment to Paul, but MUSICALLY Paul McCartney defines the Beatles. This becomes evident when you listen to their full solo careers, not just singles. Ram shows who the brains was behind alot of the Beatles musical philosophy and unfortunately I think that's what Paul was going for with that album because they were fighting at the time.

McCartney wrote the better pop songs, Lennon wrote the better alternative songs. I personally prefer Lennon more, but McCartney was a genius in his own right and both deserve respect.

I relate more to John, but it's impossible to pick.

Lennon was good with rhythm, MacCartney was good with the melodies...

When I listen to John's solo stuff, I don't hear a lot of sweet melodies...

That's what I am basing my opinion on...

he dropped acid later and had a longer stretch


but john knocked that ass out the box
and got extra funky with it









lennon was king of any style
paul was more oldschool theater rock

McCartney without a doubt.

McCartney was the lifeblood of The Beatles. Yeah Lennon was the cool/edgy one who came up with some incredible songs, but if you look at Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper in particular, Paul contributed much more songs and ideas. Even something like Tomorrow Never Knows which is often credited as a Lennon song, Paul had a large hand in.

Paul also had the better solo career.
