McCartney without a doubt.

McCartney was the lifeblood of The Beatles. Yeah Lennon was the cool/edgy one who came up with some incredible songs, but if you look at Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper in particular, Paul contributed much more songs and ideas. Even something like Tomorrow Never Knows which is often credited as a Lennon song, Paul had a large hand in.

Paul also had the better solo career.

They both wrote so many classic songs its ridiculous, but I've always like Lennon's songs better. His seemed to have more of an edge to them, while some of McCartney's can sound like kids songs, but I wouldn't argue with anyone that picks Paul, its simply a matter of personal preference. I also prefer Lennon's solo work to Paul's.

Also, don't sleep on George Harrison that dude wrote some classic shyt as well like 'Taxman' , 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' and 'Something' and also put out some great solo work as well.

No it's not.

He had two good solo albums. The rest of that shyt was awful.

Ram>>>>>>all of Lennon's solo shyt.

And I'm a big fan of Plastic Ono Band.

I mean.....neither had stellar solo careers but I preferred Paul's shyt a little more. Less pretentious.

Plus I think we can agree that Paul had the GOAT Beatles solo song

I'd say McCartney

Godfather of Heavy Metal

Knockin' Bass Player

And some of The Beatles' biggest classics...

McCartney wrote the better pop songs, Lennon wrote the better alternative songs. I personally prefer Lennon more, but McCartney was a genius in his own right and both deserve respect.

TOKYO, Taitou-Ku.
It's all opinion, neither was better than the other.

Paul when the Beatles were together, Lennon when they went solo.

Lennon's first solo will never get old. His most shining trait is no staying in his place; he spoke out on societal inequalities. Doing that will always keep you in the limelight, in the same vane as Muhammad Ali legacy and Pac maintaining a bigger following than biggie...outside the east coast, at least.

I like many of Lennon's songs better, but I can acknowledge that on paper McCartney is the superior musician. He broke some ground as a bassist, too.
