some black women were marrying white men so they could have a glamorous lifestyle or opportunity in the entertainment industry. some might call that clout chasing. their white husbands aka business managers were probably controlling their money too.

some black men were marrying white women as a status symbol once they already had clout.

times haven't changed one bit.

Understand what she saying completely. A lot of women still aren’t ready to handle the pressure the world places on black men. Good that she knew this and move out the way.

But that generation was so weird tho, cause when you look back a lot of our stars dated white people. shyts and disgusting

all women will aim to be an accessory to power & wealth

all ideals begin to crumble when protection & provision are in question

they rather deal with the mental burden than the physical one

naturally

Women are more willing to live in the mental\emotional discomfort than men to maintain their personal agenda.

Lena Horne was basically part of the Mulatto elite. She descended from the house slave of the famous civil war general John C Calhoun.
Didn't know her roots. I always knew Lena came from a line of Mulattos "Our kinda people" types. But I didn't know she specifically descended from House slaves.
